We set off early in the morning towards Dufourspitze. Our route leads us first over glacier ground plates and scree to the Monterosa glacier. This leads us to the "saddle" (4 to 5 hours), from which the partly rocky west ridge starts (a passage in the lower 3rd degree of difficulty). We climb the latter in one to one and a half hours to the highest point, 4634 m. Our descent leads us directly from the summit back to the saddle (approx. One hour). From there we get back to the hut via the Monterosa glacier (2 to 3 hours). Since the tour is very long, a second overnight stay at the Monte Rosa hut is recommended. The way back to Rotenboden takes another 2 to 3 hours.
