Tour Character

A successful combination of leadership and training in a wonderful environment at over 2000 m.

Required Skill and Fitness Level

Skill: The safe ski turn must be mastered in open ski terrain away from secured pistes.

Fitness: Ascents between 3 and 5 hours, descents between 1 and 3 hours per day.

Tour Description

If you start from the industrial town of Wattens, you can’t imagine what a beautiful high valley – the Wattental – stretches south from here. In the middle of this valley the Walchen military camp at 1,400 m above sea level is located. From here we hike with touring skis and skins to the Lizumer Hut in about 2 hours. This hut is a domicile that couldn’t be more beautiful: located in the middle of the Lizum plain, surrounded by isolated, dark green pine trees, it is a great location. I would definitely like to mention the great hut team who spoil the guests with their excellent cuisine!

1. Tag

Meeting point at the train station in Jenbach. Onward journey together by public transport to Wattens and by taxi to the Walchen camp. Climb to the Lizumer Hut. In the afternoon, a short exploratory ski tour and avalanche transceiver exercise.

2. Tag

There are numerous tour options: Geier, Lizumer Reckner, Eiskarlspitze and much more. As part of the tour we will integrate the training content of the course.

3. Tag

We planned a ski crossing the evening before (i.e. we end at a different place than where we started (in this case the Lizumer Hütte). There are a few options open to us: e.g. the transition to the Zillertal or the Wipptal. With We return to Jenbach by public transport.
